Get to Know Jess
Raised in Eden, Utah as the youngest of four, surrounded by a motley crew of (four) cats, dogs, lizards, fish, cockatiels, chickens, and whatever woodland creatures passed through the woods behind her childhood home, Jess has long cultivated a love of the natural world, animals, and human connection, especially through theatre and music. (It also happened to shape her into a fervent herbivore and protector of spiders.) Theatre was Jess’s first and forever love, most prominently musical theatre, which Jess has created and participated in since age seven when her first-grade class devised an opera through the local opera company. Since then, she has cultivated an almost freakish love of Shakespeare, competed in the Jimmy Awards, workshopped Broadway Writer’s Workshop musicals, made some magic as a birthday party princess, and haunted her local community, regional, and professional theaters with an insatiable appetite for community and human connection. When she’s not onstage, you might find Jess teaching children’s musical theatre, practicing yoga, princessing at preschool birthday parties, talking to birds, or tending to her small jungle of potted plants; Ever the little old lady at heart.
